Sources & corrections.
Readers should be able to follow important claims back to the documents behind them.
Preferred source types
For moisture-control and safety guidance, we look first to government agencies, university extension services, building-science organisations, applicable code authorities, and product manufacturers' technical documentation. A source should be appropriate to the exact claim, location, and date.
How to read a source
Check whether guidance applies to your climate and building type, whether a number is a measured result or an estimate, whether the page is current, and whether a product rating uses current test methods. Cost pages are useful for rough budgeting but cannot replace local inspections and written quotes.
Corrections
Send the article URL, the exact claim, and reliable evidence using the contact details published on our contact page. A correction is reviewed rather than accepted automatically. Material updates should be reflected in the article's updated date when appropriate.
